To store eggs, place them in the fridge for up to one month in their original carton. The pointed end should face downward.

Blog Post & Recipe: A healthy cooking technique made fragrant, delicious: Chinese-style Steamed Fish

Bamboo steamers have become the traditional and most popular tool for steaming foods. We certainly love ours. But there are ways to steam food if you don’t have one. One is to set a wire cake rack inside a deep, lidded skillet large enough to accommodate a glass pie plate or other vessel to hold the food you’re steaming. That method works well for this dish.

I also wanted to stuff the vegetable, and experimented with a few combinations. Minced anchovy mixed with sweet and smoked paprikas turned out to be a Food & Wine staff favorite. It didn't take a lot of stuffing to fill the lengthwise slit in the okra, and the flavors were plenty intense. You can hold the stuffed okra for several hours before cooking. Brown them in a hot skillet lightly coated with oil, then reduce heat to low, cover and cook until tender.

Pan Roasted Okra with Garlic / Zucchini Noodles with Avocado Cream Sauce / Grilled Corn Summer Breakfast Hash

Blog Post & Recipe: Pan Roasted Okra with Garlic

Ingredients

3 cups fresh okra, rinsed, sliced horizontilly in 1 inch pieces
3 cloves fresh garlic, thinly sliced
1-2 tablespoons olive oil
kosher salt

Blog Post & Recipe: Zucchini Noodles with Avocado Cream Sauce [ via ]

Despite my lousy luck, one bright star emerged -- my creamy (without any cream) avocado drenched zucchini noodles (without any noodles) with a sprinkling of romano cheese and red pepper flakes. It's cool and spicy, smooth and rich and not at all what it seems.

Blog Post & Recipe: Grilled Corn Summer Breakfast Hash

It’s chock full of crispy potatoes and soft, sweet and juicy peppers and onions. Some zucchini is in there too because… it’s summer! Have you heard? And obviously the caramely kernels are the best part because who doesn’t like vegetables that taste like candy? I’ll top it with an egg because you deserve it.

There's something naughty about an apple pie without a crust. It feels like cheating.

Blog Post & Recipe: Korma Curry Recipe: Goat Meat with Okra

To certain people, goat meat can have a strong taste, but I find that the meat at my local Indian market tastes wonderful and is very tender. Okra has a bad reputation as well due to its texture once boiled. I personally love this dish and could eat it by the pound, dipping rotis (Indian flat bread) in the spicy gravy sauce.

Miso-Glazed Salmon / Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes / Cooking Frozen Okra

Blog Post & Recipe: Miso paste makes a quick, savory seasoning for salmon

SHORTCUT COOKING: With the addition of a little mirin, this richly flavored Japanese paste turns into a great glaze

Blog Post & Recipe: Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes

This recipe is fantastic because it calls for the potatoes to be made the night before and refrigerated. This isn't a gimmick because the potatoes themselves turn out creamy, fluffy and luxurious.

With hints re. cooking frozen okra.

A lot of people won't cook with frozen okra. For me, it is very rare to find good fresh okra so I can either embrace frozen okra or put up with an okra-free existence. I chose the former and have learnt to cook frozen okra in a way that it doesn't get slimy.

Blog Post & Recipe: Northern Comfort: Parmesan Polenta with Mushroom Fricassee and Poached Eggs

It’s about giving the finger to the hard angles of 21st century life and enjoying something unabashedly slow, calm, and soft.

Blog Post & Recipe: British Cheeses and Rosemary Oatcakes

I even made some mini oatcakes incredibly easy to make nutty but not too crumbly, not sure why it has never occured to me to make something like this before much quicker than bread, they are cooled and ready to eat in 10 minutes.

Blog Post & Recipe: Dinner Tonight: Okra Curry

... okra needs to be treated with a little love. When cooked over moderate heat, it becomes tender and succulent. The Indian spices give it a nice kick, and the result is a simple, light dinner. While it's not the best Indian dish I've made recently, it's a tasty meal when paired with some rice.
