Blog Post & Recipe: Fresh Veggie Summer Rolls with Shiso and Thai Basil

In order to make summer rolls, though, you must have at least two essential ingredients: rice wrappers, and mung bean starch noodles ... You basically make like a burrito.

Blog Post & Recipe: Buckwheat filled mushrooms

I love the crunchy buckwheat and I rather under-cook it just a little than let it go all mushy and porridge-like. Pared with rosemary (a little garlic and lemon zest too , if you wish) and tiny bit of cheese they are such a simple thing to enjoy.

To take a break from our usual (almost daily in the summer) way to cook up the zucchini (see mom's summer squash), we prepared a classic French gratin, with grated zucchini, spinach, onions sautéed with bacon, a persillade of parsley and garlic, all bound together with a few eggs, tossed with Parmesan, and baked until golden brown.

Video: How to make the perfect martini

Readers have posted comments under the video.

Great fan of Nick's artistry, and the fantastic variety of Martinis offered by Allesandro at Duke's, but restricting yourselves to the offerings of one manufacturer of gin, namely the multinational Pernod Ricard casts a long shadow of the assertion perfect.

Article & Recipes: Good oil's here on a grand scale

... oily fish - and that includes mackerel, salmon, sea trout and sardines - are sidelined in favour of nice, polite, white fish. Yet they outgun them on flavour, on richness and on those all-important omega-3 fatty acids every time.

Salmon and red pepper tartine ... Oven-roasted sardines with fennel and garlicky crumbs ... Mackerel curry with tomatoes and eggplant

Blog Post & Recipe: Wild Mushroom and Goat Cheese Quesadillas with Cranberry-Pecan Salsa

Cranberry salsa! It’s a tiny revelation, like tasting strawberries with balsamic vinegar for the first time.

Blog Post & Recipe: Chickpea Flour Pizza – South Beach Diet Friendly

I am not sure whether to call this a pizza or a flat bread or a pancake with toppings. But I am going to go with pizza as that sounds the best. Feel free to call it whatever you like.

Blog Post & Recipe: Empanada Gallega de Atun

Basically, it's a yeast pastry (tinged slightly red with the help of the very special and wonderful smoked Spanish paprika powder, Pimentón de la Vera) that's encasing a moist and flavoursome tuna, egg and tomato filling.

Pies are also a good way of using up ingredients in this case languishing frozen scallops and salmon neither of which standout enough to be principal but contributing delicious texture in a pie.

Blog Post & Recipe: Pasta with Tuna and Capers in White Wine Sauce

Here's a little secret: olive oil-packed canned tuna, chili pepper flakes, and pasta is a master combination [...] Regarding tuna packed in water, I've tried it and believe me, it doesn't work (dry, tastes bad). You need to use tuna packed in olive oil.

Wilted Vegetables. Kid Kedgeree. Keep Meals Interesting.

Blog Post: Kitchen Cure Tip: Save Wilted Vegetables For Stock

Are you finding a few sad carrots, a wet noodle bunch of celery, brown and dusty parsley? Well, don't throw them out yet. Here are two ways to make good use of even the saddest vegetables ...

Article & Recipe: Kids in the kitchen: tuna and pea kedgeree

I’ve never believed that expression of flavours being too ‘adult’ for a child’s palate ... A gentle introduction to highly flavoured food is the key. This classic Anglo-Indian breakfast of kedgeree, a spiced rice, fish and egg dish that is a doddle to make is a great place to start.

Article: The art of home cooking

Although a certain amount of routine can be a good thing, too much of it can quickly turn shopping and cooking into a joyless exercise ... how can you stop yourself getting stuck in a rut?

Sandwiches

Webpage: Sandwich Recipes

The 101 Cookbooks blogger's three favourite sandwich recipes.

TLT Sandwich ... Vegetarian Lentil Burgers ... Egg Salad Sandwich (the only one I'll eat)

Blog Post & Recipe: Dijon-Cilantro Tuna Salad on Whole Grain Bread

Everyone has his or her recipe for "true" tuna salad. Our go-to includes chopped celery and red onion, mustard, sweet dill pickle relish and just enough mayo to hold it together. One final, maybe unexpected twist: a hefty dash of curry.

But we're always eager to try a new spin, so we were happy to try this Dijon-cilantro version.

Blog Post & Recipe: How to make a cemita

It’s a sandwich found in the Mexican state of Puebla. At first glance, you may think it looks like a hamburger as it’s housed on a round, sesame-seed bun ... The bun, which is also called a cemita, is where the sandwich gets its name. It’s an egg-rich bread topped with sesame seeds that is sort of a cross between challah and brioche. (And it’s not to be confused with the cemita or semita found in Northern Mexico, which is a Mexican sweet bread spiced with star anise).

The other distinguishing characteristic of a cemita is the liberal use of the minty herb papalo.
