Cantaloupe & Beetroot Juice / Summer Squash & Basil Frittata / Eggplant with Buttermilk Sauce

Blog Post & Recipe: Fresh Cantaloupe & Beet Juice

If you think you hate beets, I would definitely encourage you to try this because the sweetness of the melon complements the beet perfectly and gets rid of that "earthy" taste that tends to go along with beets.

Blog Post & Recipe: Summer squash & basil frittata

Grating summer squash renders it simple to incorporate into a variety of recipes, and I often stir sautéed squash into risottos and pasta sauces. The yellow squash in this frittata lends some nutty heft to one of my favorite easy meals, and goat cheese and basil dress it up for brunch or dinner.

Blog Post & Recipe: Aubergines with Buttermilk Sauce

The recipe is rather easy and straightforward, essentially requiring you to roast the aubergines for about 40 minutes until they are soft and bronzed in colour. The aubergines are then left to cool, during which time you can make the buttermilk sauce and extract the seeds from the pomegranate.

Squash Blossom Pesto / Sweet Potato Fries with Orange-Nutmeg Salt / 6 Vegetarian Recipes for the Barbeque

Blog Post & Recipe: Squash Blossom Pesto [ via ]

I simple converted my standard pesto recipe, with the addition of saffron from the abandoned sauce recipe, and magic! A vivid orange sauce, nutty with parmesan and pine nuts with this mysterious undernote. Squash blossoms.

Blog Post & Recipe: Sweet Potato Fries with Orange-Nutmeg Salt [ via ]

The best success I had came at the end of my experimental process. I found that a screaming hot oven, a preheated, well-oiled baking sheet and straight or crinkle-cut sweet potatoes turned 3 or 4 times in the oven yielded the best results.

Nettle Pakoras / Watermelon & Fennel Salad / Caribbean Spinach & Coconut Milk Soup

Blog Post & Recipe: The Sting

My favourite way with nettles is to make Indian pakoras, all spicy, crispy, mysterious and green. They are a doddle to make and amazing to eat, even my 6 year old loves them.

Blog Post & Recipe: Watermelon and Fennel Salad [via]

I decided to try, pairing with fennel, whose anise notes I think go rather well with something sugary, and a little garlic & herbed goat cheese to help balance things out. A little fresh mint, olive oil, salt and pepper and I had myself a watermelon salad

Blog Post & Recipe: Caribbean Spinach & Coconut Milk Soup

Coming back to the recipe, as I started reading, first ingredient was spanish onion…well sweetish for me in a soup, second garlic…hmm…okay..followed by green chillies, coriander seeds & cumin (now we are talking)..then there was coconut milk, chicken stock and limes (I was already sold)..I must say it was the most amazing find of the day- a Caribbean spinach soup with coconut milk and known indian spices!!

Add a jar of good anchovies – Carol’s preference is for anchovies in a jar rather than a tin – and cook until they melt. Peel, seed and cut a cantaloupe into large bite-size chunks – a cantaloupe for 4 people is what Carol said.

Micro melons. Shopping a farmers market. Sausages and Green Lentils with Tomato Salsa

Article: 13 strategies for shopping a farmers market

10 Bring cash, "especially ones and $5 bills," Lycan said. "The farmers really appreciate that."

Blog Post & Recipe: Jamie's Sausages and Green Lentils with Tomato Salsa

As someone who lives with a great cook of a husband, I tend to fear making just so-so meals. I'm working on both my skills and my fears, and this recipe is one that has helped me build confidence ... It's a Jamie Oliver recipe ... We recommend mixing this up as desired with various types of sausage (turkey, veggie, whatever you like) and adding a bit more garlic, cinnamon and/or red chillies to taste.

Article: 'Micro melons' 20 times smaller than regular size

No recipe here, just a novelty melon.

The rare Pepquino melon measures just an over inch (3cm) from tip-to-tip but has the identical external pattern and distinctive shape of traditional watermelons ... While it resembles its larger cousins, it has a fresh crisp taste similar to a cucumber and juicy light green flesh.

It can be eaten as a snack or appetiser, like olives, in a summer salad, stir fried or made into a sorbet and teamed with dark chocolate.
